Take out, made in.

I'm a total sucker for take out food.
I always tell myself it's been ages since I had it, I can afford it, I deserve a treat...or any other excuse I can think of!

Having had a day when I wanted take out, but couldn't afford it, I had to improvise.

Having got a couple of reduced chicken breasts, I decided on chicken fried rice.

It's the simplest recipe, or mine is, I don't know how other people make it!

I fried up some sliced chicken, onions and mushrooms in garlic, ginger, sesame oil, Chinese 5 spice and soy sauce. In the meantime I had the rice steamer cooking up some plain White rice.

When that was almost cooked I chucked in a handful of frozen peas.

Then I tipped all that out into a bowl, and scrambled an egg in the wok. Next I piled in the drained rice with some more sesame oil.

While that was frying I fried some big chunky onions and made a curry sauce using a curry paste

While the curried onions reduced down, I put the chicken and veg mix back into the fried rice, seasoned with soy sauce and lots if black pepper, then warmed through.

I dished up with the curry as a side.

Very tasty with the rice.

A nice cheap meal, which felt like a good treat.

Fantastic!
